Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14, 1980) was an American actor, singer, and dancer. Her early Broadway productions include Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. For her role as Essie In You Can't Take It With You she won the Tony Award. Annaleigh has worked in projects with award-winning directors, actors and producers throughout her career. Ashford's upcoming project is a limited edition Hulu series called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show premieres on November 22, and Ashford is starring alongside Kumail Najiani. Ashford's current film includes the Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film is scheduled to stream through Disney's DTC platforms as a Hulu Original. Ashford, who will appear opposite Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre during the march 2023 revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford has been seen most recently as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. This show is based around the National Crisis that saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as the central figure in the first impeachment proceeding in America over an Century. For two seasons, she was the main character of CBS's hit comedy B Positive. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda lavin as well as Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Additional Broadway performances are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she was awarded a second Tony Award nomination. Ashford is an Denver origins native, and now splits her time in Los Angeles.
